Production Week (3/8/21- 3/12/21)
My group had decided to situate our narrative at our school, so when the opportunity came for us to use the campus, we took full advantage of it. The main difficulty was balancing our different and chaotic schedules; three of us have afterschool jobs and all of us have other collegiate coursework to get done. Nevertheless, we all were able to decide to come on campus on four days of the week. Given that I was the primary cameraman/director of the group, it was necessary for me to be there on all of the days. However, the planning we did in pre-production paid dividends while we were recording our shots. I was well-aware of the conventions of horror/thriller films.
The most difficult thing to figure out was the transitioning of the opening image from the death of Johnny to the introduction of the two main characters (Addison and Betty). I had to use the help of another classmate, Anthony Guido, who posed as another cameraman recording at another camera angle. Although we had an idea of the script we wanted to use for the main characters, it was not so rigid which resulted in a more natural dialogue. my other group mates did a fantastic job and getting into character given that they do not have any professional acting experience.
the main way I can explain the entire process of producing
was using what we had along with creativity to result in the best mise en scene possible.
the raw process is complete, and while some of the clips do come off as a bit
awkward, most of the work lays envy the editing process to glue be many shots to
one cohesive narrative.
